Analysis of changes in lung, kidney, and liver mRNA expression in experimental acute lung injury-induced sepsis (ALI-sepsis). Total RNA from ALI-sepsis mouse lungs, kidneys, and livers was used in reverse transcription reactions with oligo-dT primers. cDNA was used in real-time polymerase chain reaction with gene-specific primers (Additional file 1: Table S1). mRNA level of a given gene in each sample was normalized to β-actin transcript. Data are represented as mean ± standard error of the mean (n = 12 mice in each group). Statistical differences between two means (P value) are shown by the size of the solid circles: P <0.05 by a small circle, P <0.01 by a large circle, and non-significance by no circle
