The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve is the plot of the true positive rate (sensitivity) vs the false positive rate (100 − specificity) for different positivity thresholds (that is, different cutoff levels of endozepines). The calculated value of the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.842 (superior to the random value of 0.5), indicating that DBI-LI plasma discriminated healthy volunteers from patients with systemic inflammation (P < 0.0001).
