Old mice have higher levels of chemokines in the myocardium and plasma. Adult and old mice were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 0.5 mg/kg, iv) or normal saline. Levels of MCP-1 and KC were analyzed by ELISA 6 h after treatment. Old mice had higher levels of MCP-1 and KC in myocardial tissue (A) and plasma (B). Data are expressed as mean ± standard error. *P <0.05 versus corresponding control (Ctrl); #P <0.05 versus adult mice treated with LPS.
