Patients were categorized into three groups based on quartile levels of (a) vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), (b) soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (sVEGFR1), and (c) urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), (d) combining sVEGFR1 levels and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores. Significances were tested with the log-rank test.
