Receiver operating characteristic curve for determination of NT-proBNP levels as a graphic representation of the relationship between sensitivity (true-positive rate) and 1 - specificity (false-positive rate). The area under the curve for NT-proBNP (area under the curve, 0.87; p < 0.0001) summarizes the capacity of NT-proBNP as a valuable predictor of mortality of patients with septic shock.
