(b) Quantification of VEGFR-1 positive cells per field. Ten fields were counted from each animal and four animals from each group. The number of positive staining cells in the alveolar walls was decreased in the sham group, and further reduced in the intestinal ischemia reperfusion (IIR) group. *p < 0.05 and **p < 0.01 compared with the control group.
