Relation between fecal wet weight (grams/day) and energy absorption capacity (%). The relation between fecal wet weight (FWW) (grams/day) and intestinal energy absorption capacity in 47 stable ICU patients, is inversely correlated (Spearman's r = -0.69; P < 0.001). More than 350 g/day feces was statistically significantly associated with an energy-absorption coefficient of less than 85% (P < 0.001; χ2 test). One outlier is left out of the analysis and picture (3,458 g; 60%).
