  1. *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001
  2. av_ps_n is the count of Pseudomonas VAP; v_ac_n is the count of Acinetobacter VAP; b_ps_n is the count of Pseudomonas bacteremia; and b_ac_n is the count of Acinetobacter bacteremia
  3. bPPAP is the group-wide use of protocolized parenteral antibiotic prophylaxis; TAP is topical antibiotic prophylaxis; eap is enteral antibiotic prophylaxis
  4. ce.Ac_GO is the error term for the Acinetobacter gut overgrowth latent variable
  5. de.Ps_GO is the error term for the Pseudomonas gut overgrowth latent variable
  6. eMVP90 is the use of mechanical ventilation by more than 90% of the group
  7. fLOS7 is a mean or median length of ICU stay for the group of 7 days or greater
  8. gTrauma ICU arbitrarily defined as an ICU for which > 50% of admissions were for trauma
  9. hCC is the concurrency of control groups with an intervention group receiving TAP
  10. iLess than 90% of the group receiving prolonged mechanical ventilation.
  11. jModel fit; AIC is Akaike’s information criteria. This indicates model fit taking into account the statistical goodness of fit and the number of parameters in the model. Lower values of AIC indicate a better model fit. N is the number of parameters in the model
