Adjustment of target minute ventilation (%MinVol) during ventilation with either mode. End-tidal partial pressure of carbon dioxide (etCO2) and current minute ventilation (E) during stable baseline conditions were documented. During ventilation with either mode, %MinVol was adjusted according to the protocol in order to keep etCO2 within a range of baseline etCO2 ± 2 mmHg.
