  2. aEnd of surgery samples are taken at the intensive care unit at arrival, approximately 1 h after end of surgery, except for plasma C-reactive protein taken at 6 a.m. the next day. Statistical analysis was performed by repeated measures analysis of variance with Tukey’s post-hoc multiple comparisons test or Friedman’s test with Dunn’s multiple comparisons test as appropriate
