Increased apoptosis was detected in cathelicidin-knockout (cnlp−/−) mice compared to -wild type mice (cnlp+/+) after CL-induced sepsis as demonstrated by (a) immunoblotting for cleaved caspase-3 and poly ADP ribose polymerase (PARP), and (b) TUNEL staining. Quantification was shown, for TUNEL, as (c) number of punta per villus. All specimens were collected at 24 hr after CL or Sham surgery. Error bars denote standard error of the mean.
