Comparison of patient distribution and mortality between subjects with a systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) score ≧ 3 and those with an antithrombin (AT) activity <70 %. Though the number of patients was larger in the category with an antithrombin activity <70 % than in the category with a SIRS score ≧3, the mortality rate was similar. The mortality rate in the category with an antithrombin activity <70 % was 35.5 %, while that in the category with an antithrombin activity ≧70 % was 26.5 %.
