Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves of plasma biomarker levels and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores for predicting 28-day mortality. ROC curves plotted for studying the utility of plasma biomarker levels and APACHE II scores in predicting 28-day mortality of pneumonia-related septic shock patients are shown. The areas under the ROC curves (AUCs) for soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (sVEGFR1), urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), and APACHE II scores were significantly greater than 0.5. The optimal cutoff points for each biomarker and APACHE II score, along with their predictive values for the 28-day mortality of patients with pneumonia-related septic shock, are listed in the attached table.
