Three-color flow cytometry evaluation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in healthy subjects (left), patients with coronary artery disease (CAD; middle) and after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR; right). EPC count, expressed in percentage of gated lymphocytes, was significantly higher in resuscitated patients compared with both control groups, pointing to early onset of endothelial repair after CPR. ** P < 0.005 versus control.
