  1. The results are displayed for a decrease in cerebral extracellular glucose of ≥ 1 mmol/L over variable time spans within the observation period, and for presence of fever ≥ 38°C. Positive and negative predictive values were calculated for a prevalence of meningitis of 12%, as found in the present study.
