  1. Demographic and surgical data of patients presenting with myocardial dysfunction (cardiac index of less than 2.2 liters/minute per square meter despite optimization of mean arterial pressure and filling pressures) upon intensive care unit admission and of control patients not needing inotropic support after coronary artery bypass grafting with cardiopulmonary bypass. Analysis of variance with Fisher's predicted least-square difference (continuous variables) and chi-square test (categorical variables) revealed no significant between-group differences.
