Of 13,630 patients enrolled in the nutrition surveys and PEP uP trial between 2007 and 2011, 2,270 patients with pneumonia and sepsis from 351 ICUs were included in the final analysis. The 411 patients from the 2007 database were already included in a previous study [23].
