(a) As expected increasing Fico2 reduces blood pH. *Two-way repeated measure analysis showed that pH values over time were significantly different between groups. (b) CO2 was significantly increased at the end of experiment in hypercapnic rats. *Two-way repeated measure analysis showed that CO2 values over time were significantly different between groups. (c) O2 was not significantly different between mechanically ventilated groups. (d) MAP was significantly lower at 4 hours and at the end of experiment in hypercapnic rats. *Two-way repeated measure analysis showed that MAP was significantly different between groups at 4, 12, 16 and 18 hours of mechanical ventilation.
