Survival of rats after traumatic brain injury. The number of rats treated with stress-dose hydrocortisone (HC) that died during the 14-day post-injury follow-up period was significantly lower compared to those from injury control (summarized in Table 2). The data were from rats that were evaluated for corticosteroid response. Rats used for histological analyses were not included (log-rank test, #Chi-square = 4.344, df = 1, P = 0.0371 as compared to injury control). MP, methylprednisolone.
