Mean and standard deviations of maximum respiratory system reactance (Xrs) values (closed symbols) and optimized positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP; open symbols) assessed during the optimization procedure performed every two hours in the FOT group. In average, there was an improvement of oscillatory mechanics, which resulted in a reduction of optimal PEEP with time.
